Fall-Winter 2020/2021 Ready-To-Wear

Oscar De La Renta Pre-Fall Collection

The Pre-Fall 2020 collection transports us to Northern Italy where Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia became enamored with stately architecture and storied homes over their travels. ODLR Creative Directors continue to explore "ancient and modern" as both a point of comparison and contrast. Grand villas across the region served as inspiration for not only the collection’s sun-washed palette and elegant silhouettes, but also an underlying regard for heritage and perpetuation. The villas have been maintained over centuries, updated to evolve with the times which results in a lived-in intermingling of design ELEMENTS.

Equally inspiring were the women who resided there - noblewomen known for being elegant as much in their behavior as in their style. Impeccable yet comfortable was the mood embraced in this collection. There are flat shoes, capacious coats and the most beautiful knitted basics and underpinnings to be kept forever. These are pieces to be lived in, ones that will evolve with a wardrobe over time.

Tailored tweed pieces come in crisp, earthen hues reminiscent of the picturesque landscapes. Skirts of structured cage dresses mimic the domed ceilings atop villa’s private chapels. Tonal embroidery is a focus throughout, recalling ornate detail on vaulted ceilings and stucco work - exquisite yet subtle, the result is infallibly enduring.

This sense of timeless femininity has been inherent to the house since its beginning. Celebration of house codes is apparent in the collection, upholding the heritage in a way that appeals to the era we’re in and those to come.
